This started out as a white plastic frame from a "pound"shop.  It was covered in black gesso and then using a purple "Treasured Gold" gilding was highlighted some parts of the frame.

The image itself was done using Sheena Douglass dies and then these were all coated in black gesso and the same gilding wax was used.

Work inspired by a recent workshop with the Riverside Warriors and Marta Lapowska

Demo continued

And one more which for some strange reason would not upload first time round

This was a 3 dimensional card made with acetate, cardstock, the new double sided tape and some brilliant peel off stickers.

Demonstration Day

Had a fantastic day yesterday at The Range in Gateshead, demonstrating DoCrafts products and meeting some brilliant people.  Hope you all managed to make the items you promised me you would and went onto the website.

And hope your teachers love the Thank You cards.

Here are a few snapshots of the items I made:

pictures, gift bags and cake

This picture was made using some of the background papers, bows and buttons from the paper capsules collection.  I then stamped the word on using the Papermania Alphamania Clear stamp set and coloured with Gold Wink of Stella pen.  This was mounted into one of the Ikea frames and will make a perfect Fathers Day gift - thinking of doing a few to sell???

The next one is using a frame I bought that I though could be used as a box frame but when unwrapped only suitable for a flat image - added a bow to the frame and then decided it would look better at the top.  Used some of the background papers from Papermania and then stamped one of the new Stampotique images designed by Karen Hayselden. This was coloured in with a touch of gold to match the papers.

I then needed a gift bag so used black cardstock, matted some of the background papers on, matted a label onto more black card and then made my own rosette with strips of the paper.  Finished off with a centre piece saying "enjoy".

And finally just a little bit of messing around stamping and colouring with some stamps and edible food colouring, and using the ribbons from the capsule set to trim the cake.

More upcycling

Here are some photos showing the before and after of a chest I was given by my very good friend Annette Lee.

I used some black acrylic paint for the undercoat, stamped and coloured some of the  latest Dylusion stamps and then added them using Ranger Glue and Seal.

I then added some doodling with my white gel pen and a bit more colour with acrylic paints.

Easter fun

Well  so much for keeping this a weekly thing but never mind I have been getting on with some crafting while having a couple of days off from work.  I have been playing with a mixture of stamps and colouring mediums and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Here are a few examples and hopefully I have credited all the sources.

(Kraft notebooks used were either from Ikea or Hobbycraft)

I wanted something to give to my students when they leave this year so hopefully they will appreciate them.

You will be able to see that some of the books are in clear bags already, and that I've left quite a bit of space on some of them.  This is to encourage the students to add to the book and doodle their own words/images and names on.   I want this to be something they can add to and remember their time at school also.

A couple of upcycled items

The photos show more items my dad was about to put it the bin.  Both were given a couple of coats of Pebeo Black Gesso.

Then tortoise had some gilding wax added, and the Rhino was given some random spots using Amsterdam Acrylic Pens.

Pleased with end result and glad they weren't binned :)

And another ..

I attended a workshop organised by the fantastic Sue Tucker.  This was with the fabulous Tracy Easson and the first picture shows the one I completed at the workshop - My Baker of Dreams (which just needs a few more details finalising before she takes pride of place in my craft room).  And the two on the right are ones I made when I got back and turned into magnets using recycled pieces of wood.  I so enjoyed this workshop and am looking forward to more with Tracy in the future.

Catch up time

Well, from not adding anything for ages I've now added a few posts in a couple of days.  I really am trying to improve and would welcome any feedback on the layout of the pages etc.  Don't be surprised if they keep changing as this is a learning curve for me with the use of blogger!!!

The design on the left was using an unwanted frame from the wonderful Ikea store and the one on the right is A4 and displayed on the wall at work.

Both are inspired by the brilliant Annette Lee from a workshop attended.  I cannot remember where the stamps came from for the first but the second one uses Paperartsy stamps by Lin Brown.

Upcycling

I was given  some ornaments off my dad that were intended for the skip.  I cleaned them up and gave them a couple of coats with Pebeo black gesso.  One that had dried I added Pebeo wax in silver.

Then buffed them with  soft kitchen towel.  The results are impressive - will definitely use this technique again.

Monday 14 March 2016

It has been such a long time since I added anything on this blog but promise to make more of an effort and at least add something once a week.  I have been to some brilliant workshops recently and would love to share the results.
My latest one was with the Riverside Warriors and the fabulous Marta Lapkowska.
